The Art of Relationships: - Creating a Memoir With Someone You Love
Relationships with people we treasure are a form of artistic expression.  Such relationships are a co-creation that allows us to form a mutual story, which becomes a work of art, a relationship legacy.  The “Art of Relationships” Workshop is based on the book, The Grace of Ordinary Days by Kay Saunders and Bernie Saunders, poet mother and photographer son.  The session’s invitation is to explore and bring alive the simplicity and beauty of our life by gaining a new perspective of our relationship with a loved one.

Bernie combines a rich blend of creative expression and practical wisdom when working with people, using his nature photography images and the poetry of this mother along with stories of their sixty years together.

The “Art of Relationships” offers:

•  Springboards to engage on a deeper level with people significant in our lives
•  Opportunities for deeper understanding, forgiveness and healing
•  Tools to communicate better, connect, and celebrate our lives together.

Presentation:  1 hour
Workshop:  3 hours
Seminar:  6 hours

The Healing Power of Relationships: - Wellness and Health Connection

The kinds of relationships a person has can determine a person’s over-all health and wellness. How we celebrate our life journey with another person can change our biology, affect our health behavior, and impact our susceptibility to illness.  Based on the book, The Grace of Ordinary Days, “The Healing Power of Relationships” explores how to connect with people we deeply care about, and in so doing increase our capacity to live a healthier lifestyle.

One of the unexpected outcomes of working on the book, The Grace of Ordinary Days with my mother, was the realization that much of her strength to live many more years than she ever thought possible, stemmed from the immense loving and supportive network she had created for herself.  During the years before her death in December, 2003, as she became increasingly weaker, her tenacity and spirit kept motivating her to rebound and beat the odds.

By witnessing my mother’s longevity, I became interested in the impact our relationships have on our wellness and health.  I wanted to know more about the critical interplay between the two.

“The Healing Power of Relationships” explores the connection between our treasured relationships and our wellness and health.  The session considers the following:

              •         What research suggests about the connection
              •         Key forms of social support and impact on wellness
              •         Ways to enhance our relationships and celebrate life’s journey
